I’ve had a lot of people asking about where my next trip was going to be and I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be flying off to the east coast this week! I’m heading to Boston for a few things before heading up to Portland, Maine for the weekend. This has been a destination on my list for quite some time and I happen to be going during their annual Harvest on the Harbor event.

Flavors of Maine, their grand tasting event, will kick off the party on Thursday, October 19. The event features a lineup of local chefs creating dishes for attendees complimented by local brewers, wineries and custom cocktails. Unfortunately I’m going to miss this event but I do have plans to attention their Harvest Happy Hour on Friday evening and their Market on the Harbor on Saturday afternoon. Here is a full lineup of all the events:

Two evenings of chef’s table dinners in select restaurants, featuring a locally-harvested, sustainable menu, complete with drink pairings. Locations to date include 555, Inn by the Sea (Sea Glass), UNION, Little Giant and Woodford F&B.

Notable judges and attendees will taste, sip and and vote to name this year’s Maine Lobster Chef of the Year in a professionally judged competition along with the People’s Choice vote. Competitors include the winner of the Boothbay Harbor Claw Down Nathaniel Adam from Boothbay Harbor Country Club, DiMillo’s, High Roller Lobster Co., Sebasco Harbor Resort, Boothbay Harbor Inn, TIQA, Black Tie, Shipyard Brewing Co., Boathouse Bistro & Bar and The Thistle Inn.

This fun, boozy event features sips of spirits from members of Maine Craft Distiller’s Guild.  Four tasting bars will be set up with custom food pairings: brown goods and bacon, vodka and veggies, gin and smoked seafood, and more paired with barbeque.

A one-stop taste and sipping  experience to explore the varied food and drink in Maine where guests walk table to table to try and buy tasty treats and sips from local makers and epicurean purveyors.

New this year – a self-guided tasting tour of food and drink spots in Portland including tasting rooms, bars, retail spots and restaurants. This event marks the finale of the nearly week-long festival with a sample bite or glass at each location.

Be sure to follow along on Facebook and Instagram later this week to catch a glimpse of my travels to Boston and Portland and to get a first-hand look at my Harvest on the Harbor experience! If you happen to be in the Portland-area there are tickets still available for many of these great events! Get more details here: harvestontheharbor.com.
