- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 1/2 small onion coarsely chopped
- 1 jalapeno, stem removed
- 1 lime, juice of
- 1 handful of fresh cilantro
- 1 (14.5oz) can Hunt's Diced Tomatoes
- 1 (10 oz) can Rotel Original tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cumin
So I bet you thought that I was stopping at the smoothie with my blender….not so. Blendtec claims to be able to blend many things. iPhones, skeletons, Justin Bieber. But no, I didn’t try any of those things. I’m sticking to edible items. One of my biggest complaints with salsa is that it usually has chunky tomatoes. I LOVE tomatoes raw but am not a big fan of cooked tomatoes. So today I’m making my own restaurant-style salsa, minus the chunky tomatoes!
This is so easy…Combine both cans of tomatoes along with the onion, jalapeno, garlic, lime juice, a handful of fresh cilantro, salt and cumin in the pitcher of your blender. (Hopefully in your new Blendtec Blender) Pulse 5-6 times depending on how chunky you want your salsa to be. I prefer it smooth so I nearly pureed mine. Pour your salsa into a bowl and serve with your favorite tortilla chips. DONE! If you prefer a milder salsa you can go easy on the jalapeno seeds.
Oh, and don’t forget to head over to yesterday’s post to enter to win your very own Blendtec Blender and a supply of the all new Stonyfield Blends yogurts!

I am so excited about this blender. It seems like you can do so much with it. I want to try this salsa recipe.
Can it bled any artist that have worn out their welcome?
I don’t like chunky tomatoes either.
This recipe is exactly like my usual fav recipe for salsa, except I use stewed tomatoes. It gives it just a tiny bit of sweet flavor with the spicy.
I want the blender and the salsa!
I love salsa–you make it look so easy in that wonderful blender.
Do you just put the whole can in the blender?
I literally stuck the entire can in the blender. (Ok, not really.)
Interesting. Coming from a Mexican family, I’ve never seen salsa so non-chunky, but I’ll give it a try if you say so.
Love me some homemade salsa! Thanks! You’re amazing!
This salsa sounds good.
That looks like the salsa from Chili’s! Delicious!
yum! homemade salsa is always better than store bought
Great idea in the Blendtec. I might try fire roasted tomatoes for a smokey flavor!
Oh! This sounds lovely!
This recipe looks awesome!! Will definitely have to try it!
If you wanted to with an awesome blender like that you could put the whole can in. lol
I NEED this blender!! Lol!
Sounds good. Except… I do like the chunks.
Mmmm this salsa looks fantastic!
Looks delish… I am obsessed with restaurant salsa!!
Looks so yummy!
If I win the blender, I will definitely be making this. Yum.
This is what I like about cooking- you can make food exactly the way you like it best! (For me, that means extra onions all the time). My husband is the salsa fan around here. I never though to try and customize it for him.
Yum!! I loooove salsa!
