If you were to take a vote of what everyone’s favorite food holiday was, I would be willing to bet that Thanksgiving would come out on top. Who doesn’t love turkey smothered in gravy with mashed potatoes, stuffing and those cranberries that come out of a can. I’m drooling just thinking of it! The folks over at the Wisconsin State Fair this year agreed with this love of Thanksgiving food and turned it into a waffle treat. Seriously. How can you go wrong when waffles are involved?!
I knew I had to recreate this delicacy. It’s probably best to store this recipe in your back pocket to try when you have Thanksgiving leftovers later this year otherwise if you’re dying to try it now there are a lot of shortcuts to get the ingredients. Either way, it’s pretty much amazing.
Starting with the waffles, prepare enough batter for 6 waffles. Add in 1/2 cup of dried cranberries and stir gently to combine. Using your waffle iron, prepare 6 waffles.
Plate each waffle and top with 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes. Layer 4-5 slices of turkey on top of the potatoes and drizzle with turkey gravy. Sprinkle the tops of the waffles with additional dried cranberries and serve.
