  • ½ cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • ½ cup red bell pepper, chopped
  • ½ cup onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add in the peppers, onions and garlic and saute for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add in the ground beef and cook until it is no longer pink in the center, 8-9 minutes. Drain the meat and return it to the pan.
  3. Add in the tomato paste, tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire and Tabasco. Stir to combine the ingredients and simmer for 6-7 minutes until the sauce begins to thicken.
  4. Plate each of the 4 hamburger buns and scoop a large serving of the meat mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Serve.
